Master of Business Studies (in Insurance and Financial Planning)

Work-Based-Learning Program leading to “Professional Membership” qualification certified by the Greater China Association of Certified Personal Financial Counsellors

Overview

Magna Education Center offers a unique Master of Business Studies program for the Working Executive. This Insurance and Financial Planning program aims to provide working learners with an ethically grounding in Insurance and Financial Planning skills with an emphasis on the practical application of such skills. The program is suitable for candidates who have been working in the relevant industry for more than five years

Admission Requirements

All applicants will be considered on individual academic (Insurance and /or Financial Planning) and career merits whose aged 25 or above and with at least 5 years of insurance and /or financial planning experience preferably in the managerial level.

Structure

There are 10 compulsory core units worth total 50 credits. Also required are a Graduation Project & Portfolio Preparation and Refection Writing & Critical Thinking which worth 20 credits and 10 credits respectively leading to a total of 80 credits to obtain a Master of Business Studies in Insurance and Financial Planning.

Program Duration

The time frame to complete the Professional Program will vary according to the student’s academic background and time available to focus on the assignments and projects. Generally, a student can expect to complete within 12 to 18 months from official entry to the program.

Remarks on Credit Transfer System

This Master of Management program comprises of two certificates offered and conducted by Magna Education Center, namely, Certificate in Advanced Professional Management and Certificate in Advanced Investment and Financial Planning. The credits that obtain would be transferred and validated as part of the Master of Business Studies of Warnborough College. Upon completion of a Graduation Project and Reflection Writing & Critical Thinking with pass, students would be awarded a Master Degree in Business Studies majoring in Insurance and Financial Planning (known as MBS”IFP”)

Exemption

The designees of Certified Registered Financial Risk Manager and Charted Financial Analyst are eligible for exemption from 3 modules of the program.

Salient Features

1) The program adopts a work-based-learning approach which aims to strength students’ knowledge and practical skills through class discussion, class project on contemporary case studies

2) Course assessment is to be graded by assignments and projects only. No examination required.

3) Course assignments, class project and Graduation Project can be written in English or Chinese.

4) Graduates would be eligible to apply for “Professional Membership” certified by the Greater China Association of Certified Personal Financial Counsellors.

Medium of Instruction

Classes are conducted in Cantonese with notes in English.
