1. Message from The Chairman – Dr. Philip Kwok

Since 2002 when I first set up the New Horizons Learning Centers in HK, which was renamed to MAGNA EDUCATION CENTER (KOWLOON) in March 2009, I have never rested the devotion and mission to education, which has always been giving tremendous joy and satisfaction to my life. During these years, I have gone through difficult and challenging times to help expand quality education to many parts of Hong Kong and China. I admit I have made some accomplishments in education across China and Hong Kong, yet I feel I still have a lot to my mission.

Standing on this campus, I recall the sweats and pains as the result of running the schools amid of keen competitions; each school took a lot of time, effort, and money to build. Yet seeing my fellow professional staff conducting their courses, teaching passionately in classrooms, and sacrificing so much of their life for our students, I am profoundly moved; moments such as this, I cannot but only to thank them from heart. And when our students come back and tell us about their adventure in life, how they choose their own paths, and actualize their goals, the sores we get from running the business suddenly disappear.

It has become more difficult to run a school because of the social complexities and stiff competition we face today. But we will succeed eventually since the management team have intensive experiences and comparable knowledge in running educational and training institute. Magna is the results of my accumulated experiences and knowledge, which I believe, are unobtainable but only through a passionate heart and commitment to education. This Center is my last founding education institute and I am determined wholeheartedly to shape it to be a unparalleled school model for HK's private education and training sector.

MAGNA is at a young phase and it has much room to improve and grow. But it definitely has a strong and firm foundation both in spirit and in infrastructure. The Center occupying an area of 8,000 sq. ft has already developed and implemented TEN Continued Education Fund (CEF) courses registered with the government. Moreover, MAGNA with a staff of 25 has offered various training courses to over 20,000 students and clients, which also is an admirable figure.
In my final word, I would like to say I am sincerely gracious and thankful for all of you who have supported Magna and me; I cannot start to describe how appreciative I am for that. For the past ten years, I have received continued support from my friends of various fields, school administrators and faculties, students and parents. They all have helped me to build Magna. Lastly, I am positive that Magna Education Center will carry itself to be what I believe a quality education should be.

2. Message from The Principal – Mr. Edward Tsui

While we are fully aware of the challenges that we are facing as our competitors including major business colleges and universities in HK, are offering educational programs that equal the best in the world, Magna is committed to providing quality and professional education and training courses through a theoretical and practical learning approach.

We have developed a full range of solutions to help our clients and students achieve their education and training goals. Since 2007, the Center has been conducting various diploma and degree programs to working adults, partnering with South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, St Clements University, European University, Switzerland, Victoria University, Australia and Institut Prima Bestari of Pine Academy, Malaysia respectively.

We have also developed different higher level education courses accredited by Edexcel, UK including, IGCSE , GCE A Level and Business and Technology Education Council courses (BTEC ) Higher National Diploma to support the further education and learning needs of school graduates.

To meet the challenges created by globalization, students who are equipped with good language skills enjoy obvious competitive advantages. With this in mind, the Center has successfully set up a “Language Learning and Enhancement Centre” aimed at enhancing students’ competencies in spoken and written English, Chinese as well as Putonghua. We have offered the language courses to over 5,000 students in the past few years. Recently we have conducted the Conversational English Program for students of Ying Tung Hing School, Nan Sha, China.

Corporate training is one of our main training activities to support the long life education and learning objectives of the working class. To this end, we offer different kinds of professional certification programs and soft skills courses to the local business community.

We are committed to providing all-round education and training to our clients and students. Through various learning experiences outside the classrooms, they can gain valuable exposures to a wider perspective, which is important to their self-development. In this respect, we partner with the Whampoa Military School and Guangzhou Youth Military School to offer the Discipline Training Course and Rescue and Self Survival Program to local students.
