Introduction

The Internal Control Institute (ICI) was founded in USA. ICI is the only organization worldwide devoted exclusively to internal control and corporate governance. The courses content prepares students to design and/or assess internal control and to assist management in installing internal control processes. In addition, this program is also designed to prepare the internal control practitioner to become a “Certified Internal Control Specialist” through satisfying the educational or experience requirements and demonstrating the competences in Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK).

This course prepares participants to design and assess the Internal Control System or Process. Making participants familiar with risk assessment and management, and the compliance like Sarbanes- Oxley Act, COSO are also the key deliverables in this course. In addition, the certificate holders are eligible to apply the “Certificate Internal Control Specialist” issued by Internal Control Institute (ICI), USA through satisfying the educational or experience requirements

Course Assessment

Student’s performance will be assessed by course work assignments only. Course Work Assignments constitutes 100% of the final grade. There is no examination.

Unique Features of this Program

The Certified Internal Control Specialist (CICS) program was developed by leading internal control professionals as a means of recognizing those individuals who demonstrate a predefined level of internal control competency. The CICS program is directed by an independent Certification Board and administered by the Internal Control Institute (ICI). The program was developed to provide value to the profession, the individual, and the employer.

The CICS certification entails an aggressive educational program that tests the level of competence in the principles and practices of internal control in the business world. These principles and practices are defined by the Certification Board as the Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK). The Certification Board will periodically update the CBOK to reflect changes in the internal control environment.

ICI was established as a professional association formed to represent the internal control activity. Today, Internal Control Certification, administered by ICI and The Center of Excellence at St. Petersburg College, is available globally.
