What is CFA®?

The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) is a globally recognized standard for measuring the competence and integrity of investment professionals. This program is comprised of three levels, each culminating in an examination.

First awarded in 1963, the CFA® Charter has become the designation of professional excellence within the profession of investment management. Those who earn the right to use the CFA® designation demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning that is essential to providing the high-quality service that today’s investment industry demands. This course will cover the topics of the eleven areas in the CFA® designation Level 1 examination.

Course Description

The objectives of this course are to cover the primary topics and sub-topics under the seven investment-related disciplines covered in the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst®) Level I examination. It will cover theories and concepts utilized by investment professionals. It is also a combination of theories, and real-world work experience.

Learning Outcome

After finishing the course, Students should be able to:

Understand investment management concepts and approaches and how they would apply to an investment professional’s day-to-day activities.
Possess the body of knowledge necessary for Independent Investment Management Analysis and Decision Making.

Course Duration and Structure

Total contact hours: 63 hours (57 hours lecturing plus 3 hours Mock Exam and 3 hour Mock Exam Review in about 3-4 months)
The course is divided into 21 lessons each of 3 hours

Exam Review

After completing the Mock Examination, the instructor will provide guidance to students for all questions from Mock Exam so that the participants could grasp the concepts easily.

Admission Requirements:

Degree holder or equivalent

Medium of Instruction:

The program will be conducted in Cantonese supplemented with English.

Courseware:

Students are required to buy a package of Stalla Comprehensive Study Guide provided by DeVry/Becker Educational Development Corp as the notes for the whole course.

Students are suggested to buy the reference books recommended by the CFA exam authority.

Minimum Requirement:

A minimum Attendance Level is 70%. If the student's attendance does not meet 70%, the student will be requested to reseat our class until he/she has accumulated of 70% attendance before issuance of final grade.

In order to pass the course, students must earn a final grade of 60% or higher. Conversely, students who do not reach or exceed the 60% range must repeat the course before final grade issue.

Final Grade: 100% based on the Final Exam

Minimum passing grade: 60% in Mock Exam

Candidates will be given certificate if they fulfill the basic passing requirement in the course.

Requirement in issuing certificate: 70% attendance + 60% correct in Mock Exam.

Course Fee:

HKD13,800

The Continuing Education Fund (CEF) will subsidize the highest HKD10,000. Students should only pay HKD3,800 after reimbursement. (The students with valid university student card can enjoy 12-month payment by installments with no interest)
